Looking For Yum Yum Linux Repo?

Hello people.

Using Linux? Red Hat Enterprise Linux or Oracle Enterprise Linux? Oppss..

got missing packages and tired of dependencies? Hahahaha.. :D

Here some free repository provided by Oracle for FREE..yahooo!!! But with NO SUPPORT, of course… but, its freeeee…

ok, 1st, choose the Linux version that you use?

OEL 4/RHEL 4, Update 6 or Newer
# cd /etc/yum.repos.d
# mv Oracle-Base.repo Oracle-Base.repo.disabled
# wget http://public-yum.oracle.com/public-yum-el4.repo
OEL 5/RHEL 5
# cd /etc/yum.repos.d
# wget http://public-yum.oracle.com/public-yum-el5.repo
OEL 6/RHEL 6
# cd /etc/yum.repos.d
# wget http://public-yum.oracle.com/public-yum-ol6.repo
Oracle VM 2
# cd /etc/yum.repos.d
# wget http://public-yum.oracle.com/public-yum-ovm2.repo

After recognize your Linux version, copy the yum configuration above, by running that commands as root.

Then, edit the yum configuration file to enable the repository:

  • Open the yum configuration file using your favorite text editor (vi, nano, gedit etc)
  • Locate the section in the file for the repository you plan to update from, e.g. [el4_u6_base]
  • Change enabled=0 to enabled=1

Finally, use your yum..yum..

Example: yum install compat-db-*
